Re: Novel Coronavirus (COVID19)

@Disco - see if you can get any of his rants, threats, stupid opinions, etc in writing and make copies that aren't on a business computer (unless they contain genuinely sensitive business info). CYA.

Re: Novel Coronavirus (COVID19)

The Australian government has always been about putting the economy and big business first and securing votes to stay in power second. People's health only comes into it for the securing votes part.

Re: Novel Coronavirus (COVID19)

In updated news about my shitty employer, the new mandate is if/when we're forced into quarantine the expectation is that we'll be live streaming via webcam during work hours, so our employer knows what we're up to. Apparently me questioning this as an invasion of privacy in the home is seen as a "...

Your headline wasn't too far off "Orange man gets Caronavirus". I expect Trump will get it at some point, but will probably be kept under wraps as he has a need to appear invincible.

Being away from the capital cities will help with that.
One of my friends that works at a school had to quarantine for a couple of weeks after some students caught it.

Yeah, there's a new video card in there.
That was the exact thing that my BIOS update fixed. Different symptoms, but it would not boot cleanly from a cold boot. Working fine now.

I feel like some model kits are overly complicated just for the point of having more bits to glue together.

Looking good though Darius, you have a hell of a lot more patience for this than I do.

Looks like there's a few threads on having to calibrate them. Guessing changes in pressure, humidity and whatever banging around in shipping could throw them a bit off.

If the credit runs out soon, chocolates or lollies from Myer, USB drives or coffee stuff from Good Guys and I guess hand warmers from Kathmandu.

Re: Windows 7 End of Life Support

If it works generally management don't care. If they can save $20 per device over 5000 devices, they'll take that option even if the end user experience is worse and costs more in lost productivity. They get upgraded devices of course since they are busy.

If they've only just done it, probably should have skipped straight to 10.
I'm somewhat looking forward to being able to put Windows 7 on my outdated devices reports. Am I a bad person?

Given Iraq voted to boot out all of the US troops a few days ago, hopefully he'll just announce a withdrawal from Iraq.

Has postal service gone a bit more stupid than normal for anyone else this year? Ordered some stuff from overseas between middle and end of November expecting it to be here by Christmas. Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

I'm going to miss Windows Phone. I loved the GUI... it was so much more convenient to download apps, have them all drop into the app list and I can pick from that list what I wanted to put on my main tiles page. With Android (and I assume iOS too), all the apps get dumped on the phones' desktop and...

Re: First build since 2013.. help!

I wouldn't bother with the liquid cooler for the CPU, plus that one has been discontinued apparently. There's a bunch of mid-range air coolers with pretty lights now.
Also would be looking at the new AMD CPUs. A bit more performance generally for less cost - Intel has fallen behind.

Nice shilling, but a VPN won't save you if they get the emails, SMS and bank records directly from the companies that hold them.

Trying to get games redeemed for various bonus offers is horrible. What happened to just getting a game code in the box? So far of 3 I've had 1.
