Re: No Man's Sky

Been playing a fair bit of NMS... perhaps against my better judgement? :) I like survival/crafting games. I also like exploration games, but NMS (despite the marketing) doesn't work in that regard for me - everything looks/behaves the same after a very short time. So it's really all about collecting...

Re: Minecraft Update adds Oculus Rift

Huzzah! :D For what it's worth, the Oculus Minecraft app didn't actually run for me after downloading (just exited on run) - seems I needed the latest windows update (Feature Update to Windows 10, 1607 aka. the Windows 10 Anniversary update). Not sure why it wasn't already installed, it's been out f...

Re: No Man's Sky

Downloaded from Steam this morning... starting to think it was the wrong choice. :/

edit: ok, so disable FPS cap and turn off Vsync helps. Significantly.

Re: No Man's Sky

PS4 has the advantage if you have a particularly nice setup for couch gaming as the game is likely to be good for relaxing and exploring. PC will probably have better graphics, a better choice of controllers and, if you have an nvidia card that supports it, Ansel photography mode is supposed to be ...

Re: Oculus Rift vs HTC Vive

I have a Rift (well 2, technically, including the DK1 - thanks Kickstarter). Couldn't speak for the Vive, but well happy with the Oculus - very well made bit of kit. Feels expensive and sturdy, built-in headset is good. I also appreciated the inclusion of the wireless XBox one controller (although w...

Re: Federal Election 2016! It's on tonight!

Eden-Monaro currently says Labor by a reasonable margin... despite a redistribution in 2016 that was expected to shore up the Liberal base vote in the seat. So either it loses its 44 year "bellwether" status, or we get a Labor government.

Re: Federal Election coming on July 2nd. It's on!

So what happens to my senate votes if none of my numbers gets selected? Does it just end up going to the most popular person on my selection? Nothing - if all of your choices are excluded, your vote exhausts. Is one of the consequences of the senate voting change - one I'm quite happy with, TBH, me...

That's some pretty terrible copy-editing there, did anyone even look at it before it shipped?

Can't help but wonder if he was actually going for... "dev-liar-ing"?

Yeah, I was very pleasantly surprised by Ricky Muir. Good example of getting an "man off the street" who is willing to do the job he was elected for, as opposed to career politicians.

Pilfered from Crikey: The most avid readers of political analysis in Australia are most likely to vote for the Greens, according to the cumulative results of a survey question Roy Morgan has been asking for three years. From October 2013 to March 2016, Roy Morgan asked over 100,000 electors what typ...

Yup, saw that. :)

Oculus have made some questionable business decisions along the way, and blocking ReVive was just one. :P

Still a fantastic bit of kit.

Oculus Rift

Per the "Latest Purchase" thread, my Oculus Rift finally landed on Friday. Put some serious time in on Saturday, bloody impressive. The resolution increase from the DK1 (the kickstarter devkit) goes a long way to, while not completely eliminating, making the "screen door" effect much more ignorable....

Re: Show us your latest purchase - May 2016

Not quite a "latest" purchase (given that I paid 3.5 years ago), but... the CV1 finally landed on my doorstep on Friday. :D http://i0.wp.com/www.roadtovr.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/oculus-rift-cv1-unboxing-1.jpg It really is a thing of beauty. Downside is that my current GFX card is under min sp...

Re: Steam Controller , Who's got one ?

Picked one up with my Steamlink order from Amazon. Absolutely hate it... far prefer my XBox controller.

Really comes down to the fact that it doesn't do twin-stick in any way competently, courtesy of that "innovative" (read, useless) touch pad thing.

Up for sale if anyone wants it. :)

Re: Federal Election coming on July 2nd. It's on!

Would be good having a third major in the mix, might make the parties actually have a think about what they are doing. Technically, it'd be a 4th major party, no? Given that the Liberals and the Nationals are separate parties, despite having been in a Coalition for donkeys years (because neither ca...

Yeah I don't think that poll is very good. Everyone seems to come out 95% green I think you might be onto something there... the Greens have cornered the political market! :P edit: But yeah, it's fairly borked - as n1cholas pointed out above, it doesn't do such a great job of distinguishing subtle ...

Re: Oculus Rift

According to the reddit investigation/poll.... one Australian has received theirs (pre-ordered, not kickstarter). *shrug*

I'm not complaining, mind you. I paid $300 for a devkit, got it and then they told me I'd get a free retail version. I can wait as long as it takes. :)

Yeah, keep seeing Deadlands referenced in relation to SoB. There was a CCG based on the same setting, iirc? Doomtown?

Looked interesting, but I've soured on CCGs (including Living Card Games), other than Hearthstone, that is. :P

Re: Tabletop Gaming

Like most/all Flying Frog Productions titles, it's a bit clunky rules-wise, lots of dice rolling... but absolutely oozing in theme. Weird West is just so cool (and I generally dislike cowboys/wild west content). :) Having to assemble the minis (unless you proxy the minis) before getting it to the ta...
