Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Worst time of year for it to happen - hopefully you can get someone to repair / replace it quickly. When it happened to us a few years ago, it took 2 months until our landlord could get someone in to repair it.

Re: Planet Trump

China banned Winnie the Pooh from social media as its citizens were using it to make fun of their dear Supreme leader. Trump's an embarrassment, sure, but he's still bound by the liberal democratic system he finds himself in. He can't wield power the way Xi or Putin do. He can say fake news, but can...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

The mission of Centrelink is to limit the amount of welfare it pays out. A huge amount of bureaucratic processing goes into this, so it's only fair to conclude it's by design than process. The only exception to this is the Old Age Pension. In between, you're a freeloader trying to scam the taxpayers...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Interview didn't go terribly, though I could have done better on the coding portion of the interview. Just waiting now for the "thanks but no thanks" email. What was cool, though, was the job prospect finally compelled me to look into Big Data, and that's been really interesting. Gonna keep on with ...

Back to work today. Gonna see how long I can keep a apathetic-yet-compliant attitude up, as opposed to my usual cynical-combativeness.

The chorizo to vegetable ratio is too high, but I'm otherwise happy with how it came out.

Trying out Bodyguard on Netflix, which so far seems a good counterpart to Homeland and Greyzone.

Re: Wellness Accountability 2019

I'm starting training for a half marathon in mid-April. So I'll be running ~6 days a week for the next 15 weeks, starting with a run this morning before it got too hot. Also still got about 5kg to lose to get to a normal BMI, so I'm hoping I can continue to lose weight as the training ramps up. It's...

I'm gonna grab Heat Signature on the final day of the sale, once I've sold all the trading cards from the sale. I'm that sort of miser.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Day 4 here in Pollieville. It was 22 when I went for a run this morning just after 8, and by the time I got back (just after 9) it was already 30. Gonna get up to 38 today. Thankfully it'll drop to 34 tomorrow, and only be 31 on NYE.

And now there's an interactive Black Mirror special up, though I haven't watched it yet because I can't cast it. Gonna have to go old school and hook my laptop up to the TV for this.

Wouldn't be surprised. Everything is in a constant sale these days that even the retail price is dressed up as one. Gonna guess there's too many products for most people to pay attention to.

What sort of people actually post interview reviews online though?
It was someone responding to a question on Quora about the interview process for the company.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

It's private industry (big data) where all my experience is in Government web development. Last night I started an intro Hadoop course online and started reading a textbook on algorithms I had lying around (in my "This may come in handy one day" pile), so at least for now the plan is to find it a go...

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts

Started preparing for the job interview I've got on the 9th, and I'm baffled as to why they're even interviewing me. Nothing on my resume remotely lines up with their technology stack, and reaching about their interview process, I feel horrendously unqualified and the interview will be a waste of my...

I'd rather kill myself than watch Cricket. Funny that, I'd rather watch cricket than kill myself. You all have fun commenting about the joy/boredom of cricket. After a week off to mostly myself to re-energise, I'm heading out to catch up with friends. Always interesting that people feel the need to...
