Tale as old as time...

EDIT: If they want this to be really, really good, then need to get Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson back to do their duet again.

I saw this last night, and after getting home watched the classic - I have to say the new version is quite good. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it is definitely a good homage to the original classic.

Although - it did raise a question in my mind.
What exactly is the time line of Beauty and the Beast? How long has the beast been The Beast? In the new version of the movie it would seem maybe a couple years, if that? Maybe a couple weeks or months - maybe days??
I don't want to say too much in fear of giving away spoilers but anyone who has seen the new version might understand my question - especially at the end when a father is reunited with his family... I immediately thought "wait, how long has it been??"

The Disney version says the curse has been on the castle for 10 years, and that's close to the Beast's 21st birthday. So an 11 year old boy got cursed for not letting a strange old woman in.

They keep the 21st birthday thing in the new one I think? And from the opening it can't be more than a year or two.

I get what you mean in the ending though, I was confused too.

Yeah but in the new movie he was much older than 10 when he got cursed... right?

I just came across this theory which best explains and answers my question haha;
