So Spectre sounds like a beautiful piece of shit... if that makes sense.

That's disappointing to hear; I really loved Skyfall. I'll probably end up watching it at some point anyway I guess.

Skyfall was alright but Casino Royale is still the best Daniel Craig bond film imo. I just hope Spectre will be better than Quantum of Solace.

Though it shouldn't be hard as we all know that Christopher Waltz can play a good villain.

Just back from the screening... 4/10.

That wasn't a BAD movie, but the entire story just seemed like them trying way to hard to tie things up by just pulling shit out of nowhere. It was at LEAST half the movie before you have the remotest idea what's going on and the motivations of pretty much EVERYONE were just a little weak.

Overall i think what detracted most from the experience was that the editing was fooking TERRIBLE. Over use of hand held shaky cam in the beginning for absolutely no reason at all and it almost seemed like whoever did the final cut has never watched a Bond movie. There were quite a few instances where in a bond film typically there will be an explosion etc and the theme will play for a second then it cuts to whatever comes next... in this one there were awkward pauses that ruined the flow of things.

Saw this on Saturday night in gold class but the seats were front row so it was a little tough to see the screen.

It was ok, I can't help but feel the chemistry between Bond and the Bond girls was a little off and contrived. Christoph Waltz as always steals every scene he's in but I felt this was definitely a setup movie with Spectre. I had to read a plot synopsis afterwards to get what was going on. I may enjoy the movie more when my eyes aren't dancing around the screen.

Aww this is sad to hear. A few of my friends saw it and said it was great :( I've personally loved all the Daniel Craig Bond movies a lot though! Casino Royale it still my favourite...the locations, the story and that opening chase scene!

Will hopefully see spectre this week or next :)

Spectre was good. Its just wears it haphazardness on its sleave is all. It was bound to happen I mean wrapping up a four film thingy was always gonna be tricky and it also goes for too long, theres too many moments where nothing is happening. But all that said it was good imo. Good action fantastic actors. But that said it was my least favourite film of Daniel Craigs Bond.

I watched this last night. While it isn't as good as Skyfall, it still is a good movie(if a little too long) to watch and the review in the OP is really bad "Spectr relies on bond cliches" thats like going to The Avengers movies and complaining there is super hero cliches in it.

I was pretty underwhelmed. Maybe I let Marc Fennel colour my perception but the plot did feel pretty wobbly to me.

Saw this tonight, had some amazing action set pieces and interesting story bits, but the plot was pretty average and it felt a bit too much like a Marvel film, setting up a bunch of stuff for future films.

Finally got around to seeing Spectre ($4.50 movie ticket deal at Dendy).

As someone who liked Skyfall, Spectre was enjoyable but I think one of the issues with it lies with a lack of obvious threat. Bond is a man on a mission and in most Bond movies, the mission is spelled out clearly (even if there's a twist or two along the way). That's story telling that works... we know what the end target is, and watch how he pieces his way there. Here, we watch him piece his way to a target we're not entirely sure what it is.

It does play to the theme of the movie though... I mean... 'spectre'... an apparition or spirit, usually something we're not overly sure is there or is clear about. Sam Mendes does a good job of crafting his movies to the themes they represent and if you look at it this way, the movie succeeds.

Overall, I do agree that Spectre comes in behind Skyfall.

I'm still undecided as to whether I like Skyfall or Casino Royale more... the former has better imagery, and the editing is consistently well paced (erring more to suspense than action for most of the time). The later has some editing issues in the Casino segment but the rest of the movie was really well done and it has the best action set pieces out of the Daniel Craig bond films.

Now what I'd like to see is the next Bond film move away from these threats that are personal to Bond or some other MI6 character. Give us a villain with a crafty plan like Goldfinger... hard one to top I know, but that's classic Bond.

Oh, and Skyfall had a much better title song and better imagery in it's title.

Really wish they had also come up with a completely fresh soundtrack for Spectre too (apart from the Bond them of course) instead of rehashing modified Skyfall tunes.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Sam Smith to begin with and the song isn't very good either.

I was actually hoping that Lana Del Rey would get a shot at a Bond song. Her voice is some what suited to a Bond song IMHO.

I didn't hate the intro song, it wasn't great though. I saw the other day radiohead were meant to do it, but their version got knocked back for the one in the film. And i personally think radioheads sounds heaps better. Then again i think radiohead are some of the finest musicians around lol

I'll post the soundcloud link if you's wanna judge it :( Sounds way more james bond!

https://soundcloud.com/radiohead/spectre

Anyway, i obviously finally saw spectre. I thought it was amazing! Was a long movie, maybe a bit too long. I'm a huge fan of the Daniel Craig bond movies, so i knew i'd love this :D

Big fan of Radiohead here as well... though, I'm not sold that their effort is any better.

For me, in both cases the instrumentals are fine and sufficiently "Bond". But the lyrics are either silly, forgetful, or both. Plus I'm not a fan of the Bond songs with male vocals. Maybe I just prefer hearing a woman's voice when faced with tastefully shot silhouettes of the female body - lol
