The Visit - M Night Shyamalan

Post by CherryRed » 02 Jan 2016, 13:10

Disco and I watched this last night, it certainly had some creepy moments but wasn't as freaky as I expected it to be.

I've always loved M Night Shamalamadingdong for his plot twists, but for the first time ever, I called it before it happened.

I was raised to not do things I wouldn't want done to myself. And that's why anal sex is off the agenda.

I didn't mind the movie, but it's not one of MNS's best.

What I enjoyed more was Nekosan watching it, and relaying his thoughts to me via IM on steam... hilarious!

Haha, yeah it doesnt look to be one of MNS's best.. but I'll still eventually check it out.

Is the twist actually any good, or was I kinda on the right track? lol

Nah, it's not what you think it is... the twist was okay, and not blatantly obvious, it was just a little something earlier in the film that kinda made me have a hunch that might have been it. It wasn't a terrible movie by any extent of the imagination, I just have really high expectations of MNS since his plot twists have got me so many times in the past.

Yeah while I enjoyed it, it was definitely not in his normal ballpark, and yeah we were both speculating on what was happening and Mrs D got it, the smart arse :P

Yeah the feel I got from it was like it was a tamer version of the paranormal activity movies.. I still watch those hoping they might get better but they get progressively worse! :P

Yeah... MNS is sorta losing his talent a bit.. though, I still like to watch his stuff hoping he'll strike upon gold again.

I can't leave Paranormal Activity movies alone either, I have to watch them, can't help myself.

We watched one in a hotel at Kiama one night, something happened, I jumped and threw a bowl of twisties all over our bed LOL

Yeah, they had a real knack for upping the creep factor then having it sizzle out real quick by making something stupid happen or nothing happen at all..

A lot of the REAL scares that happen are the cheap LOUD NOISE WHEN EVERYTHING IS QUIET tactics. I hate those. Lol.

Sad but true :/ But I'm with you, I'll keep watching and hoping he's had enough good movies that it wont hurt

This is my pet peeve with 99% of "horror" games and movies, they're really just fucking with you cheaply by having a quiet audio track and then blaring something 10x louder for a jump scare.

So I saw this over the weekend - Boy was I close! Hahaha

This movie was a let down - I felt like I was watching a pre-teen thriller.
