Australia Post is starting to tick me off.. my axe was shipped express post in the morning of the 5th of January - according to the tracking it's been at Chullora since the 7th and hasn't moved since :O:

I've had something at Chullora for a few days too. Normally shit arrives the next day once it hits Chullora.

69 years old is a good wicket, add to it the extravagant lifestyle he would have led means he did better then most. Plenty of exceptional people die younger and unknown to the world at large. Besides, it's going to happen to us all.

I think he was a bit like Pink Floyd. Hugely influential and very popular in his/their time but pretty irrelevant as far as current events go - something you would have had to seek out to know much about them.

Chances are though you heard his music in a movie or tv show and didn't even realise it. Heroes, Under Pressure, Space Oddity, Life on Mars and Young Americans seem to be some of the most repeated songs. Have a look at his IMDB page for the hundreds of times he has been used : http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000309/

Space Commander Chris Hadfield recorded this cover of Space Oddity, whilst in space.

Okay, I'm not feeling so bad now... my news feed on FB is full of fully devastated people and I'm just like "Uh, I knew his name but if he knocked on my front door I'd have no clue who he was"

I think it's probably got more to do with music tastes and less to do with age. I love a lot of music that's 20-35 years old now.

Also, I am the same with musicians/songs as I am with actors/movies, if I heard his music I'd undoubtedly recognise it, but I'm horrible at recalling names of artists, songs, actors and movies. Always have been.

Bye Bye Essendon Footy Club, that has pretty much destroyed any chance of them competing this year.
Stupid that it has taken this long though.

Feels a bit cooler today thanks to a bit of cloud cover this morning, but still a high of 34° predicted though :( It's too damn hot for my cool climate tastes, I have no idea how some of you people in the 40°+ range are surviving. I used to do it once, in Dubbo of all places and further west, sitting in demountable classrooms with no A/C pretending to learn but focusing on staying conscious instead

we range between 36-38 here all week, I'd kill for a decent spot of rain, only 1 storm since we got home from holiday but it was awesome, power went out which sucked but we just sat outside and watched the lightning and rain.

I really need to post a picture of my balcony to show how awesome the view is watching storms roll in over the valley.

Except Pink Floyd and David Bowie have both recently released albums that have reviewed well and sold in large numbers.

Dark Side of the Moon still sells tens of thousands of copies a week, and it came out over 40 years ago.

Bowie had stopped touring, but Gilmour is currently on the road and was selling out 70,000 seat arenas in South America last month.
