Spent the whole day inside and around a square bailer. That was my second enounter with one and the second time I've sacrificed the day to one with virtually nothing to show for it at the end. Complicated difficult pieces of sorcery. How one ever works properly I'm not actually sure.

Yeah I read that, around $245K or so out of a $10 bet, wouldn't that be nice!

Hell I wish I could go back in time to this time yesterday and drop a few grand on picking the race in full order.. that'd be a hell of a win.

Doctors appointment today, really good news, she has responded very well to the treatment, tumour in her bowels is no longer showing up in the PET scan and all her brain tumours have massively reduced.

Really tough week at work this week...

I was introduced to the world of Child & Adolescent Mental Health and spent some time over at the ward, which is very much like a prison, meeting the staff and getting to have a good look around and learn about the programs etc. As over 50% of our occupancy are families with children suffering from serious mental health complications, it's really important that I have a strong understanding of what those families are going through... but WOW, talk about an eye opener.

On top of that we had a situation with a family staying with us, domestic violence background - obviously can't really go into detail, but there were lots of issues surrounding intimidation, verbal altercations, theft, etc and once we got them to leave we found vomit, feces and indications of child abuse in their room. We spent an entire day meeting with police, social workers and reporting the issue through to authorities. It really shook me up.

On the up side, my boss gave me today off and it's nice to just be having a few hours at home to process thoughts and do some stuff around the house.

Yep, we indeed did celebrate 4 years of marriage yesterday - we already have friends/acquaintances who didn't even make it that far, so we're consider every year together something worth celebrating! Disco sent roses and bought jewellery, and we honoured our tradition of drinking Champagne but this year we did it differently and drank it whilst playing Forza on Xbox

Interestingly enough, Disco and I were on a bit of a long drive last weekend and I don't know how it came up in conversation but we both made comments similar to this sentiment - that Doug probably just thinks he's doing what needs to be done, but really, he's just doing such an amazing job of caring for his family throughout this whole ordeal. It says a great deal about your character and who you are as a person Doug, Mr Disco & I are both proud to class you as a friend.
