Keeping up a social media profile looks exhausting. Always asking people to take a picture of you doing random shit. No thanks.

Depends how you use social media I guess, I pay far more attention to my twitter than anything else, and it's pretty effortless

Yes, I have an old school friend who is a high profile female sports reporter and advocate for women in sport; there are forever photos uploaded to social media that appear to be "candid" shots of her jogging, cycling, swimming, etc and she looks absolutely stunning in every single shot. I always want to say "do you pay someone to chase you around with a camera every time you exercise, or what's the go?" but of course I bite my tongue.

I freaking love Oporto but the nearest one is 150km away, so I normally only have it a few times a year - probably just makes me enjoy it more when I do get it though.

It's almost worth going to Dubbo for.. almost

Seems I've got lumped with the menial task of updating around 50 plans with dimensions over the next few hours.. pretty sure I can drag this out until knock off time :D

Ahhh... work budgeting sucks...
Especially when the budget was set 5 years ago with a vague idea of what it would be spent on. And the person who did that is no longer here.
It is something that I didn't think I would have to deal with at this stage of my career.

Who sets an actual budget 5 years in advance? That's ridiculous. So much can change!

I mean, sure, every Feb/March we submit an updated 5 Year Plan, but our actual budget for the upcoming financial year is submitted at the same time and at some point between March and June the board will come back and either tell us we've asked for too much and to revise it, or it gets approved. Setting your actual budget 5 years out is pure insanity though.

Water industry goes in 5 year plans in Victoria. And the budget is set for those years, maybe some wriggle room between the years, but the 5 year total doesn't change. We are currently in our 3rd year out of 5...

And currently they are asking for the next 5 year plan... plus a estimate for the 5 years after that.
My boss is going nuts trying to work out money that will be needed in 10 years time for IT equipment...

We do a rolling 5YP and a 1YB, so in March this year we submitted a Budget for FY15/16 and a 5YP covering FY15/16-FY19/20, in March next year when we do it again all we have to do is delete FY15/16, shuffle FY16/17-FY19-20 forward, revise them for anything that may have changed and then tack on FY20/21. The budget is just what is on the 5YP, plus routine expenses.

So apart from the very first year we did it, at no point do we actually have to sit down and dream up a 5YP from scratch. It also means that if there is a change in leadership, it’s easy for the new person to quickly and easily identify the things their predecessor felt were important and/or essential.

My RAV4 is 10 years old next year and has just ticked over 100,000kms last month.

Woo... off to Ed Sheeran on Sunday night... and standing tickets :)

Only problem is that Ed doesn't start until 8.30pm (if on time) and doors open at 4pm...
Looks like lots of standing around to be done... and a water bottle to be taken in.

But no backpacks are allowed in, and only bags 30cm * 40cm.

Whole office Christmas Gala Ball at the Crown Palladium tonight... 1400 of the 1700 staff are going. Going to be big. Happens every year but this year there is more people going (about 200-400 more people) than normal.

Also, 140,000km's from a 2001 car! Not bad. I've done 70,000 of that in 5.5 years!

When I lived in Mudgee, I couldn't find a reason good enough to go to Dubbo, others I knew did though, some did a monthly shop, IMO once you've done the Zoo 2-3 times, that's it pretty much. ;)

At least Bathurst has a decent race once a year. :)

Edit: Thought of a time I actually had to..
A friend broke down midway between Orange and Molong on a Sunday after Dark, so I went out with the car trailer, the servo's were shut at Molong and Wellington, so I had to go through to Dubbo to fill up, Guy at the servo in Dubbo said he had just called the cops cause some kid was standing at the bowser with a lighter in hand, thought to myself, yep I'm in Dubbo.

So, dinner tonight for me and the boy - BLT - made with the Bertocchis award winning bacon - nice - good smokey flavour without being overpowering. It could become an occasional thing

AND

Some people are special - REAL special

Image

This is a 90 degree corner exiting a car park - the approach to that corner consists of a number of turns and short straights - you can see the longest straight, before you get to this corner, behind the man on the left... This car has somehow - at speed - hit the ticketing bollard and ripped it out of the concrete and then been flipped over
