I've always envied those guys who could just buy one suit and still have it fit perfectly a few years later
ive still got a jacket that fits me when i was 16. (i was wearing it today in the cold at work)
my tailor made suit i got about 17 years ago fits as nicely then as now.i wear the suit/shirt combos basically if i go out. cos i have shit clothes or only a handful of good ones.
my wedding pants still fit me. havent tried the jacket, should do.

but dont envy me mate. tis a shit yardstick to measure oneself against.
So you're 18 now? ;)

God damn windows update messed up my sound card drivers yet again. It does it constantly, but infrequently enough that I have to re-google/relearn everything I did the last time to get them working again. That's going to be a fun filled hour or so tomorrow.

I think I'm only persisting with the card at this stage because it's got a built in headphone amp which is actually really nice and I can genuinely hear a significant difference (says every audiophile ever, I know) compared to just jacking it into my onboard sound.

Damn you new monitor...

I mostly like my sound card more than the onboard because it does a much, much better job of on-the-fly analog to digital conversion for a surround system.

I have a sound card. I tell myself it's because one day I hope to use it to record music, but that's just vanity on my part.

I fixed it again! I just needed to google out the 9 different install options my sound card drivers offer to work out which ones are necessary (Only 4 of them... or maybe 3. I'm not sure, but 4 works well enough).

I tried using the windows auto driver install thing just to see what it'd do. Mostly because my card is way past being properly supported and the driver I use comes from an extremely low effort blog site and couldn't be any more unofficial. But it works. I was a fool to try something new when I had something that works. The windows option hung my computer on startup and I had to go dig out an old PS/2 keyboard because the windows recovery screen wasn't taking input from my USB keyboard. So that was fun.

The trickiest part is I disable hibernate (because why would I want it on a desktop?) and have to re-enable it in order to turn on sleep mode because I have to get windows 10 to sleep momentarily in order for it to remember the settings I change on my sound card software. Otherwise it resets to default every time I reboot. Then I can disable sleep and hibernate again and it's all fine.

Super simple stuff.

Now I just need to work out how to stop windows from complaining about me turning off it's firewall settings. Even after I've unticked all the boxes telling it to shut up. That came back after the update. Maybe if I turn it all on and then off again it'll go away.

I have a weird problem with my laptop where every now and then it sets my Dell monitor as being the default sound device, even though it doesn't have speakers, and is connected via a hdmi to vga connector. Super weird. I disable it and it just re-enables it and sets it as the default again.

I'd love a standing desk, but I'd want one with the hydraulics to go up and down and a treadmil to do some walking as well and I just imagine it would be a big fuck to go from standing to sitting

Fixed!

I've had a sit to stand desk at work for a little while now but have only been able to use it for the past few months... bloody computer cables weren't long enough but the physio they got in made changes to my monitor set up which solved the cable issue. IT are useless. Couldn't get a longer cable if their life depended on it. Anyway, I'm glad it's all working now as my back and legs feel better esp since I spend 10hr+ days in the office these days.

And today was another reminder why I got my folks to stay with me while mum undergoes cancer treatment. They got a sore throat... yes both of them... and the best thing they picked up for the issue was Throaties. Gave them some Armaforce which should hopefully sort out the issue after a day or two.

Last minute selection criteria writing - always good when you're not 100% qualified for the job you're going for...

Keep to the STAR method. I usually make sure I can jot down a sentence per section and have 3 solid points for the Actions before continuing on with that example to use.

So.. everyone is excited to be standing at their desks at the start of the day and by the end, everyone is sitting? Or heavily... leaning? ;)

I start in sit mode as I stand/walk all the way to work. Then I have an Outlook alert set on a 30min reminder for me to alternate between standing and sitting... which works until I accidentally hit dismiss instead of snoozing the alert for another 30min.

I used to take that stuff seriously, but these days I prefer to be concise and to the point.

As I said, I'm not really qualified anyway (minimum 1 year experience and I've got 7 months) and I don't have much riding on whether I get it. Though I'm not sure if I'd change anything if I was taking it seriously - having been on the other end of resumes / selection criteria, I don't see the point of putting too much in as it's just more for those reading it to dredge through.

Got an email this morning saying that I'd had a win on the Powerball.. obviously not division 1 because some lucky bastard who doesn't have a job won the lot.. but anyway.

It's a lovely image saying congratulations on your win, with the sea, a yacht, an island.. and I won $13.50.

It should have been a picture of a large big mac meal or something!

Needed to type up some presentation slides I took photos of on my phone. Started to connect the phone to my PC only to realise we have the cloud these days. Logged into OneDrive on my PC and the photos were there ready to be used. My technology is great these days!
