I can't complain. The guy who lives across from had another loud get together on Monday night till almost midnight which kept me up on Monday night. He didn't seem to be around last night so I had a good night's sleep in comparison.

GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY!

My Knuckle Duster footpegs cleared customs!
Hah, I was expecting you to get a Please Explain!
I was expecting them to just get confiscated to be honest, they're actually knuckle dusters, with a bit on the end so they bolt to the footpeg mount, go customs!

Anyway, well done Otto for reaching a key milestone. Be sure to inform the workplace (I think it's the workplace) that your HECS is paid off else, from memory, they will keep paying and you won't get that overpayment back till your next tax return. That reminds me I gotta chase up on my own tax return.
Thanks for that Mugsy, contacted Payroll about it today. Guess I figured the government would tell them but I suppose not.

I used it as a forced savings for 6 months before I asked my payroll to stop taking it out.
Was a nice tax back year after that

Been an interesting week so far and it's only Tuesday - first thing Monday morning my boss received a call to say her mum had been found dead inside her home by the carers that visit each morning to help her get showered and sorted for the day. I had hoped something quick and natural like a heart attack but it turns out she had a fall going to bed, hit her head very hard on the corner of the bedside table and essentially bled to death. I hope she was at least knocked unconscious on impact.

Apparently there is a nasty stain on the carpet where she passed, I'm going to try and convince her to let me coordinate for that to be cleaned or the carpet in that room removed and she said she took one look at it, almost vomited and hasn't been able to re-enter the room since.

Really sad... and with a staff of two, I'm now flying solo until further notice.

Clearly, Cherry's still in shock RE the passing of her boss' mum to realise a whole day has passed now.

But that is a sad thing to happen to die from an accident. Those sorts of things could have been avoided.

I really hate having group meals and one person tries to avoid chipping in or doesn't commit to a group deal that was bought in advance by someone already.

That does suck, but when it happens I tend to do a mental check on whether it's a habit or out of character. If it's our of character they might be struggling financially for some reason or another and a lot of people are too embarrassed to say so.

If it's a closer friend I'd just work on the 'what goes around comes around' principal and hope that in time the scales will balance out. If it's an acquaintance and they do it again I would either call them out on it or avoid making the same mistake a 3rd time by refusing to go if they are.

That's true, though, in my mind, if they're struggling financially, I question why they even committed to coming in the first place. I guess I just think that way because my folks have struggled financially for most of their lives and mum refuses to go to any family gatherings when she knows we couldn't contribute our share (that and I have certain relatives who expect everyone else to pay for their share and dad has a soft spot when it comes to this stuff). But in this case, it wasn't a family gathering.

So tonight was interesting. Some of those wind speeds are not like the others. I assume it maxes out at 120 just looking at it.

Words can't describe how glad I am that it's Friday, with my copy of RDR2 in hand I eagerly await the afternoon.

Lost a few trees around town, but just a lot of stuff fairly well stripped and a couple big branches around the house. Not so bad.

Allergy season has come late this year, though it's hitting me hard already. And this year the medicine isn't providing me much relief at all.

Has everybody been spotting birds for bird week? https://aussiebirdcount.org.au/

I thought it was something different to do for 20min. I enjoyed it, actually really looking and counting what was getting around my place. I also finally found out why there's a Kingfisher hanging out when there's absolutely no water (or fish) anywhere near here for him; He's been getting stuck into the skinks. There's a billion of them in and around the gardens, I've never actually seen anything trying to eat them before.
