Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
Ah rats! Still no frozen corn kernels. Had to buy a mixed bag of peas, corn and carrot. Hopefully the GF will be happy with having to have peas and carrots when ever she wants corn in her meals. At least free range eggs are now in stock again after midday.

I didn’t really go nuts with the buying, we do have a fair bit of frozen stuff and noodles and microwave popcorn for the kids but we’ll get through that quickly enough.
Not appreciating the price hikes for things like hand sanitiser though from the smaller stores.
Wish I could work from home though, stupid retail telco stores being essential.. the queen of Australia did visit the opposition a few doors up the other week which was hilarious

I am enjoying telling people to go away and be socially distant though, maybe a little too much....

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
Yeah, I don't think too many of us here didn't at least do the same. The frozen foods, noodles and pasta was being cleared out so that if one didn't grab something, it would mean missing out and not having something critical for a dish.
Ditto. But then I (and I'm assuming most of us here) are introverts too. The girlfriend said yesterday that it's lucky that she and I are both couch potatoes by nature so we don't find the self isolation to be overly daunting.I am enjoying telling people to go away and be socially distant though, maybe a little too much....

Nobodies posts come up in my feed on Facebook, I’ll check what people are up to occasionally and maybe post the odd pic of the kids (first day of school or birthdays whatever) or a random funny thing I come across
Shopping centre is dead this arvo which is nice
On an unrelated note, is it bad that the only way I can get my 8 year old to read anything is to make him read along to animal crossing?

At least he's reading? I'm an avid reader and that's what I've always thought, people who aren't into reading, just haven't found the right book yet. If he enjoys that, support him I guess and see if he develops into other areas??kharis wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 17:16Nobodies posts come up in my feed on Facebook, I’ll check what people are up to occasionally and maybe post the odd pic of the kids (first day of school or birthdays whatever) or a random funny thing I come across

None taken

I fully stocked our two small freezers with chicken, beef, veggies, etc and we bought ONE bulk pack of toilet paper but we didn't go too nuts.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
At least it's calmed down somewhat... I was able to do an almost normal shop this morning, though they were still out of the frozen steam veggie/rice combos I like.

Bummer mate.
I'm currently trying to use more peas than corn... it seems the GF and I use more corn in our cooking. I usually buy a bag of frozen peas and frozen corn together. But currently I have two unopened bags of frozen peas in the fridge and the corn is almost out.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
The main thing I'm having trouble buying now is cleaning products and hand sanitiser, things seem to be returning to normal otherwise.

Just saw we were meant to be away at the end of this month, Singapore and Maldives, son of a Corona.

That sucks mate.
The girlfriend and I were meant to have had a week down at Tassie a few weeks back for our 1yr anniversary. That obviously didn't happen. I was looking forward to both a break, exploring Bruny Island and maybe catching the southern lights with her. Another year I guess.

Yeah it still stings.. gonna try to take a 3 day weekend over my birthday weekend instead, nothings going to make up for missing out on the Maldives but I'll try to make the best of it

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
Sounds like a good plan given the current restrictions.
We're just bunkering down at home for most part. Today's our cheat day so I'm ordering Grill'd delivery for lunch. We both love a good burger!

Yeah I was supposed to be halfway through a two week terrorisation of Tasmania about now.
I was hoping to be away for my birthday, but nothing worked out.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
So much for Grill'd... firstly, the GF needs to work till 3pm now and second, Grill'd don't deliver from the two closest stores. GYG adds up to about $30 on uber eats and I can't even find Maccas on there atm. So, it's back to my trusty fisn n chips shop who offer a discount to somewhat offset the delivery cost if I spend over $15 or $20. They do a mean fisherman's basket with deep fried scallops, prawns, calamari, fish fillets, chips, and some coleslaw (I need veges). Tartare sauce and the lemon is thrown in no extra charge.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
Do you have Menulog in your area? I find some things are on there but not Uber Eats for whatever reason. It might not be too late for Grill'd!

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
We've only got Uber Eats here, it's not too exciting but Covid did get some nice places added while they were open for takeaway only.
Before that, it was pretty much all Indian, Pizza, Thai, or Chinese - so not super enticing.

Re: Fleeting/Random/Thoughts
Yeah, seems we have menulog in our area... and they deliver for Grill'd at no delivery fee and no minimum order! (though the items have the usual mark up). I really should have shopped around.
EDIT: Incidentally... it was the Grill'd website that I was trying to order through. They said no delivery in my area. But of course, they didn't mention for me to go to Menulog did they?

I find we have Menulog, Tuckerfox and Ubereats... It is annoying trying to work out which one to use to get something delivered.

Working from home isn't so nice when there's tradies working on defects 3m away from one's desk.
