There's definitely an odd feeling to the Snowpiercer movie but it is based on a comic or graphic novel from memory so they do try to make a surreal feeling. It's also directed by the same Korean director who did Parasite. I enjoyed both.

Wasn't there some weird web idea that Snowpiercer was the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Yeah, that is true...

It's actually quite uncanny how many similarities there are between the two movies.

Oh, Screenrant... >_>

Two episodes of the show are up now and I'm enjoying it so far. Story seems quite different to the movie, from what I can remember. Also don't think the movie train was 1,000 carriages long. :-o

Did a late afternoon coffee run for the office team today, been a big day for a few of us with an early start and a lot of legal mumbo jumbo going sons, so thought a small boost would go a long way for everyone!

Hope you all enjoy the coffee!

I'm bracing myself for some more work tonight as I need to write up a departmental response to a matter that may have an urgent deadline. Good thing I'm working from home and have flexibility with my start/end times for work. Also, it's cheat day tomozza for me!

Had a pretty productive day for once:

- did a much needed vacuum of the top floor (it was getting real dusty)
- assembled the new office chair... pretty comfortable. Hopefully this one will also last another 15yrs like the old one
- managed to break into the girlfriend's old PC for her to retrieve old photos

Just need to get her to verify that everything is there that she needs and I'll format that PC before taking it to the dump. Interesting PC... it's a Sony VAIO with the PC, monitor and optical drive all in one unit... but damn is it slow now.

Also snuck in the odd game of MK Mobile... progress good this week. Got a tonne of upgrades.

Rather than dump, check around to see if a charity or school wants it. Might only be good to take apart for courses but it's better than the dump.

There might also be an electronics recycling place near you that will take it and do something useful with it, worth checking rather than just adding it to landfill. Just thoroughly wipe or pull the hard drive before donating.

When I say dump I meant the electronic recycling bin at the dump (where I took my old computer parts a few weeks back). Didn't click that different states probably have got different setups for electronic recycling.

Yeah, I've got an old Windows install disc I'll use to format the HDD... just waiting for my girlfriend to review her photos to be sure I've grabbed everything.

Well, I've just wrapped up an excellent birthday weekend, stayed somewhere local on Friday night with MrsDisco and had dinner from one of the fanciest places in town, take away which was lovely, we had a fantastic time. Had some mates over on Saturday for drinks, then lunch with the family on Sunday (my actual birthday).

Got a Kamado Akorn BBQ as a gift from everyone, cannot wait to sink my teeth into some wings/ribs/brisket/chickens/roasts etc, going to be a learning curve but I am looking forward to setting it up and breaking it in next weekend.

LOL, my Assassin's Creed Syndicate freebie from Epic Game Store appeared in my Uplay launcher too after linking my accounts to get Breakpoint working. Pity Epic only gave away Watchdogs and not Watchdogs 2.

Sigh, back to work after a long weekend...
But on a positive note, kids are back at school, so I am now able to actually work and not attempt to work and teach...

That's good news that the stress levels have reduced there mate.

I'd like to think that Australian society will value teachers and educators more going forward after experience with these lockdowns (compared to other countries' attitudes towards these professions) but I suspect that won't change. Those professions will still be paid piddles and the next time we see a similar lockdown, parents won't have adequate support from teachers.

Normally EOFY is stressful for me but with working from home arrangements, no one has asked me to help with our budgeting for next year's program (knock on wood... it better not be a last minute request).

Back in 2012, I was looking forward to taking my long service leave for a 4-6 month holiday through the Silk Road and then the himalayas. And then Campbell Newman decided to fire all temps and I had just given up my low pay permanent position for a much higher pay 3yr contract 6 months earlier. I was lucky to just qualify for getting paid out my long service leave.

I've just done 4yrs in the public service again... so another 3yrs and I can finally take LSL.

When you can't sleep... get up to do some work... and find out that the websites you need access to are down for maintenance.

I started the day needing a do over, or a skip button  Starting to settle down a bit now, but I've had heaps of tech issues.. my emails would work on my laptop but not my phone, the Office 365 portal was down at one point, then I could load a website on my phone but not my laptop, just a lot of weird gremlins.
