Assetto Corsa

Been looking at a lot of DiRT Rally on YouTube lately and it had me wondering what rally mods might be out there for Assetto. Found this video below as a great example of some of the stuff being done by modders. All it needs now is for someone to come up with a custom HUD app that does the stage notes.

Also must remember to download that transfjhsijfiuwbjjdi12gen track that Vital and Matty mentioned...

And I nearly had mental orgasm seeing this! '98 Mclaren Merecedes F1 - The onboard sounds pretty damn right for this car too! http://www.virtuasimulazioni.com/mclare ... tto-corsa/

Sure is! I've just taken it for a drive and, though I am limited to a gamepad at the moment, it is everything I hoped it would be. It's one of my favourite cars in F1, having brought Mika Hakkinen his first championship, and I have always hoped for a really good sim version of it. I'd say it's a must have for any F1 fan who has Assetto!

I took a few shots of it in action.

Yep, it's one of the best F1 mod cars available. Nice shots. You should check out their Ferrari F1 concept car. It's unlike anything else out there :)

I'm quite a fan of twisty mountain road tracks like Transy, or simply roads that feel like a public highway in the country somewhere. Here's a small selection of the 'must have' tracks, I suppose.

Lake Louise

Transfagarasan North

Coste Road

Longford 1967 - not exactly twisty, but has a good country road feel

So much linky goodness! Thanks, I'll be giving all of those a download to try out.

I kind of thought I'd not be all that into Assetto without my wheel but it's proving to be a reasonable experience with the gamepad, so long as I have a few assists on to keep the cars a little steady. Playing it from the couch, and on the TV, certainly makes it a bit more enjoyable!

I've tried a few different versions of Bathurst and most of them weren't worth downloading, but I think this might be the most accurate one so far.

Nice, I will have to check that out! Too many unofficial Bathurst tracks (in many games) get it wrong, mainly by being too wide and not quite right across the top of the mountain.

Nice big update last night, and it came with a few free items. A new track, a fictional USA themed road called Black Cat County and comes in three configurations, and to go with the USA vibe a free 2015 Mustang and 2015 Corvette have been added to the game. The track has a very desert highway feel to it and it's great to roar about on with the big new US muscle.

I didn't realise those goodies where in the latest patch; that Black Cat County road sounds like fun, might do some racing this weekend :)

I had a quick run of the Vette on that track yesterday, on some random server with one other random guy. We just ran around the track together and it was a good bit of fun! I like servers like that now, that just the big open road style tracks set on practice mode rather than races, Just get on and drive :D

Lake Louise online is good like that. The designer included a bunch of little rest stops off the road. People treat it like an actual 2 lane highway and just cruise around overtaking each other now and then and parking at the rest stops if someone needs to catch up or just to take a break. All on teamspeak.

I've given Black Cat County a good go and yeah it's not bad, I'm glad they've included something like this. It still can't hold a candle to Lake Louise though. It's so damn wide!.....I find myself only using 2 lanes. And did they have to go so overboard with the yellow corner signs? Calm down Kunos, it spoils the country road feel a bit when it looks like a Need 4 Speed track.

A good update though, new tyre model feels good and the new (paired back) post processing effects seem to give me less problems with glare and exposure levels need less tweaking.

Ha! My exact thoughts too! It is also a bit bland as a track, but I guess that can be said for its setting. Nice to have something a bit different added to the official content anyway.

I'm starting to feel okay with just using the gamepad for now, so that is encouraging me to drive it a little more again.
