Google Project Fi

Post by Disruptor4 » 08 Mar 2016, 08:30

Haven't read too much into it, but seems like a pretty cool idea. The $10/GB is a tad expensive imo depending on what deals/plans you currently have and if you regularly make phone calls/sms' it could add up.
In saying that, I need to read up a bit more, but if I can get the Nexus 5X 16GB for $200 or 32GB for $250 like is mentioned in the article/comments below without actually using Fi, I may just jump on it for that!

EDIT:
Depending if the discounted price applies to Australia ($150 off making it $400 or 32GB I believe), then you should be able to just buy it and activate Fi for a month then cancel it again.

EDIT 2:
Doesn't look like discount available to Australians. Unlucky I guess.
This offer is valid from March 7, 2016, to April 7, 2016, while supplies last for U.S. residents ages 18 and older with a Google Payments account. There is a limit of 1 discounted Nexus 5X per customer, and terms are subject to applicable laws. The offer is void where prohibited.
What do you think of Project Fi?

Seems like a good idea in theory, though in practice the "seamless" bit is still a bit far-fetched to me. Also, I wonder what the battery life thinks of pFi.

I got nothing for ya... I was raised to not do things I wouldn't want done to myself. And that's why anal sex is off the agenda.

Project Fi isn't available in Australia. I doubt that it'll be available any time soon either.

I'm pretty sure they're just the rates of someone from the US using the service in Australia.
You can't actually sign up for Google Fi if you live here, not yet anyway. (Edit: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2015/04/googl ... australia/)
