Mechanical Keyboard suggestions

Post by Mini » 07 Jul 2016, 10:07

Right...
I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard under the $150 mark (delivered) preferably closer to the $100 mark...
I know this isn't giving much to work with...

Anyone got any recommendations at this price level?

For under $150 delivered, something like a Ducky Zero would probably be good, I've got a Ducky with red switches and have been extremely happy with it

I second the Ducky suggestion. I love my Ducky.

Right... now to find a Ducky that isn't sold out...

Anyone know what the Razer Blackwidow's are like?
They are around the $100 mark for mechanicals...

I've had a Razer Blackwidow for several years, no problems though I dislike the cloud-based profile settings. Some people had complaints about QC but again, all my Razer products have lasted.

Admittedly when my Razer KB + M breaks, I'll probably move onto Steelseries.

Older Blackwidows with Cherry's are good, the newer ones aren't quite as good, in my opinion. I bought a Razer with their greens, which are almost the same as Cherry Blue (it's what they're aiming for anyway), but they don't feel the same. The built quality doesn't feel as nice and the keys don't feel quite as tight, meaning if you hit the key on the side it tilts a little, still works fine but doesn't have that quality feeling I get from Ducky.

I have owned and used quite a few different keyboards, Ducky Shine 3 with Browns, and Greens (by far my favourite), Ducky Shine 5 with Blues (my current baby), Corsair K65 with Reds, Rosewill something with Blacks (my Mum loves it, so it's hers now) and a Noppoo Choc Mini with Blues (for my laptop).

With my initial comment in mind, any mech (even with cheap switches) will beat any membrane board.
Mechanical keyboards are definitely worth the extra money you spend on them, especially if you do any amount of typing, or gaming, they just feel so much better in every aspect.

I'm currently using a very cheap Logitech membrane keyboard (K110 I think)...
And it will be used mainly for gaming, some small amounts of typing but not enough to worry about.
I might go into Centre com and IT warehouse in town and see what they have available on the shelf... hopefully something cheapish that they are getting rid of.

I went into Centrecom in Bendigo and they had the Corsair Gaming Strafe for $175, so I grabbed that.
Having fun with the colour schemes while at work currently, some seem a little over the top...

I would have recommended a Corsair if I'd known the budget would stretch for one. :P
Cherry Red switches, only red backlight, very nice to type and game on my Corsair Vengeance K70.
Which Cherry switches in the one you got Mini?

This one has Cherry Brown, which for first mechanical switches are very nice...
Now to work out a good lighting scheme... or download a few to try...

Haha, probably shouldn't have spent as much as I did, but decided I was doing overtime at work for something... and it was my birthday.

Model M Fanclub... I just wish my 5.5mm hexdriver would hurry up from China so I can pull it apart, give it a good clean and prepare it for USB conversion. This Zboard I'm using sucks arse, I remember why I stopped using it years ago :barf:

I got nothing for ya... I was raised to not do things I wouldn't want done to myself. And that's why anal sex is off the agenda.

I got the Corsair K70 RGB with brown switches. Loving it! I would've recommended the cheaper Corsair also so good choice. I came from a Logitech G15 revision 1
