Hopefully they'll keep this sucker under control. It's now thought to be contagious prior to when symptoms show and the incubation period is up to 14 days.

Here's a live map count of the number of cases and deaths by country...

I'm glad someone had the balls to do this...

They seriously need to shut everything down for 14 days to stop the virus spreading.

Quarantine precautions may have to be re thought ,looks like the incubation period could be up 24 days! ,there's another story running around saying a 70 year old was infected but didn't show symptoms for 27 days.

The cruise ship quarantine was a disgrace. They should have known it would just get everyone on board infected.

The South Korean outbreak is likely to get a lot worse as they suspect one woman attended multiple church services and ate out with friends while unwell: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-02-24/ ... a/11993682

3+ weeks from infection to symptoms will make it real tough to keep a lid on. Hope they can come up with a vaccine soon. :(

Being away from the capital cities will help with that.
One of my friends that works at a school had to quarantine for a couple of weeks after some students caught it.

It's really ironic that for the QLD cases, it's the Gold Coast that gets hit every time. Mum and Dad live next to Southport where the latest case was detected. Told them to not go to Australia Fair for a while just to be safe.

I spoke too soon... first case in Brisbane today with that Uni student at UQ who came back to Brisbane after a 2 week self isolation in Dubai. Makes one wonder if the incubation period can be longer than 2 weeks or if he picked up the virus in Dubai or in transit?

Either way, I still maintain my point of view that the authorities have been very late to react. They should have imposed a worldwide lockdown for 4 weeks to stop the spreading with only controlled movement of key personnel. Lets hope I'm wrong and they do get on top of the problem.

Nah genie is out of the bottle. The fact that people can be catchy weeks before symptoms mean this is going to go global, its about managing treatment now.

Managing treatment and, on an individual level, surviving long enough until a damn vaccine is created.

So is it anything to worry about or is it just an unusually bad flu?
