Found my Steam screenshot folder... god help you all.
The Hunter: Call of the Wild.
I am a huge fan of the 'free-to-prey' game The Hunter and was pretty happy with the money I poured into it... this is an unusual opinion given the feral rage the game has forever garnered from people who want everything for free (that's sure to be an opinion to make me popular).
This latest one is a paid title.. but already has some DLC which has yet again got its audience up in arms.
On the MASSIVE MASSIVE OH MY GOD IT'S FUCKING HUGE maps you can unlock fast-travel areas and lookouts (lookouts will populate the map with nearby points of interest);
As was The Hunter... Call of the Wild is absolutely stunning with the best vegetation and world-building of any game ever (imo);
You'll earn XP and cash as you rake in your earlier kills with the XP invested in skills and perks (which might sound trite but is actually a pretty cool way to keep me playing at least) and while it's not always sporting;
it will tell you how you killed the creature (in this case a panicked three shots as I came across my first Bison);
it won't be long until you can afford your second main weapon... in my case foregoing a shotgun for this beautiful compound bow;
that is modelled so well that you can see the arrow has broken on my practice shot;
No bugs outside of the last part of my hunt... I'd crossed into a new area and had just spotted a majestic buck in the distance and I had a small herd of 3 European Bison bearing down on me... but suddenly my rifle, binoculars and hunting mate all disappeared. I could still flick between them and the icon would change, but I couldn't bring my rifle up. Gah. The buck would have been worth some pretty amazing XP and cash.
Here's the lead Bison as he finally realises what's in front of him.
Probably the only things missing so far are;
- no free head-look. Possibly a consequence of the game now working with a controller... didn't try my TrackIR but presuming it won't work.
- no posing your trophy shots... was a morbid but pretty funny element of the FTP title
There is, however, an achievement for a 400+ meter kill... and I'm pretty sure the view distance on animals in the original didn't go that far.
Just realised the game is made by Avalanche (Just Cause, Mad Max) in their Apex engine... publisher is Expansive Worlds.
Just reading up on the 'Tent' DLC and actually, am feeling a little of the outrage. It's a massive gamespace and tents allow you to save your current spot when you stop playing. For a once-and-done game that should probably be a part of the game's price. Cosmetic shit, fine, don't care... hmmm..
All in all though, recommend!

Going against the grain here but not sold on Prey at the moment. The enemies are hard to see, and all the weapons I've found so far hit like a wet lettuce leaf, unlike the enemies. I got excited when I saw you could replicate a crossbow but it's a freaking nerf crossbow. You have armour but most of their attacks seem to go straight through it. It doesn't seem to run all that well on my 1060 either, which is odd because I've read people say it's well optimised.

Prison Architect is out on iOS... fantastic port (went through paradox interactive I believe). Free to play base gives you two campaign missions and limited sand-box mode, $7.99 for unlimited sand-box and $22 gives you everything (campaign, sandbox).
Also, The Hunter CotW... seriously. Fucking AMAZING.
Bit of an odd night. Farming Sim 15 to start with, followed by Prison Architect on the Xbox and ending with Rimworld.
Rimworld is an odd jobby. Pretty happy with my refrigerator setup as my 6 colonists have more than enough food to last a long winter but just having some trouble with getting everyone to wear temperature appropriate clothing. I can see how this might become a little addictive.
Is Elite Dangerous still going good? $40 for the game and xpac on the Humble store, so am considering getting it.
And do you need vr for it to be good or is that just a bonus???
I enjoyed the game when I was playing it... and might have to grab the Horizons pass as I don't have that yet.
It is much better when playing with others though (and from what I have heard, much better with a flight stick)
I played it with keyboard and mouse and actually liked the flight style though
