Windows 7 End of Life Support
Windows 7 End of Life Support
Well damn. I've enjoyed using Win 7 since getting this PC back in 2013 but come 14 Jan 2020, it's going to stop getting new security updates:

Looks like it's time to get a new PC later this year. Not sure upgrading the OS on a 6yr old PC is the smartest thing.

Windows 10 isn't too bad if you clean install and disable/uninstall a lot of the crap.
Of course updates can enable/reinstall said crap.

Re: Windows 7 End of Life Support
Can you still update your Win 7 PC manually up to that date after the deadline
How long will the activation servers continue to run?
I'm not going to Win 10 on all my systems, I'm currently in the process of moving all my systems except my new laptop (which unfortunately has Win 10) to Linux... I lol'd when I tried Win 10 on an old system I have and it brings up a message that my hardware is broken, yes my hardware is SO broken that it runs Win 7 Pro perfectly.

Based on an article I recently read from about a month ago, yeah, you can still download the updater from:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/softwar ... /windows10
And upgrade Windows 7 onwards to Windows 10... I might do it on my desktop PC finally... I like Windows 7 but Windows 10 isn't bad.

HAHAHA.
The place I used to work 5+ years ago was all Windows XP nation wide (slowest computers ever), they've just finished rolling all their computers onto Windows 7 lmao.

If they've only just done it, probably should have skipped straight to 10.
I'm somewhat looking forward to being able to put Windows 7 on my outdated devices reports. Am I a bad person?

Probably started porting whatever software Disco uses before win 10 came out, a former workplace had moved over to XP a year after windows 7 came out cause hooray, custom software sucks ass and double sucks ass when it's got to keep info dating back to the days of mullets and the last Eddie Murphy album.

If it works generally management don't care. If they can save $20 per device over 5000 devices, they'll take that option even if the end user experience is worse and costs more in lost productivity. They get upgraded devices of course since they are busy.

Re: Windows 7 End of Life Support
Well, MS has officially ceased support of Win7. I think I'll spend this weekend upgrading my 13" laptop and my desktop PC to Win10.

If you still have a windows 7 laptop it might be time to throw that in the bin and just buy a new one...

Re: Windows 7 End of Life Support
Probably the case but I rarely use it. It's just there as a back up if my desktop dies like what happened early 2019.
