Was the same myself - until I tried Spotify at least. Most of the curated playlists I get are 60s through 80s (disco/rock/popular in Australia stuff), along with a fair leavening of Scifi/movie soundtracks.

I suppose curated playlists is worthwhile. Movie soundtracks are also my thing... maybe I should give the freebie version a try sometime.

Could use some time away from the office so badly right now that I'd lick someone that had COVID-19.

Go for a serious disease that has a cure mate... for Mrs Disco's sake at the very least.

I have to say, I am enjoying being on Android for apps that have got greater functionality than what I had on Windows Phone. TransLink app works better than the website.

Google's tracking of my movements is a bit worrying but occasionally they suggest to something I do like.

I used to like the monthly travel update, places you've been etc - it's all data collection though, same as Google/Apple maps knowing traffic patterns and where there are delays, it's all data collected by phones on peoples persons.

You've just got to accept it if you want the convenience of a phone, that they are tracking you and they are selling/using that data across a whole range of things.

Yeah, as an analyst, I do understand their need to collect that data... they just couldn't provide the convenience without that much data to work with.

I'll live with it at the end of the day.

I had the bright idea I'd stock up on flour and yeast so I can make my own english muffins... it turns out yeast is fucking impossible to get now. I almost bought a cheap homebrew kit just for the yeast.

I've been told by a few bakers that brewer's yeast is a reasonably good substitute. Might check out my local homebrew shop today.

I did a quick search last night. Its a different strain of the same species.
You can expect it to work, but with a bit more alcohol created, a bit less rise and a slightly bitter flavour.

Man, the negativity and fear is practically permeating the air over on my side of the lawn. My town is shutting down and our economy is collapsing because it's mostly retirees and the town makes its money off tourism (which was supposed to be picking up right now) - people are getting laid off like crazy.
I'm trying hard not to let it affect me, but it's all people can talk about here (my town, not on this forum), and it keeps poking that worry in the back of my head of losing my job. Paid leave or stipends are absolutely off the table, so it would just be "nope, we can't pay you, go elsewhere"
I can at least probably supplement with some commissioned artwork, and I'm grateful for having multiple escapes (art, reading, gaming) - it's just a hard time being on what society considers the "bottom of the barrel" as far as labour and workers.

- my top panel on the case isn't plugged in so I've lost 2x USB3.0 ports, 2x USB2.0 ports and the front access line in/mic ports. I don't care much for the mic port and luckily I have a line in for headphones on my speakers

I should test things more thoroughly. Seems my USB2.0 ports work and at least the audio out port on the top panel also works (Win 10 . And here I was almost running down to Office works to get myself a 3.5mm jack splitter and extension cable.

So at the end of the day, I've only lost two USB3.0 ports on the top of the panel which along with the loss of two other USB3.0 ports at the back makes that USB3.0 hub on the front a complete waste of money as I could have gotten extension cables to get USB3.0 connectivity from the back of the PC and I would have had 4 USB3.0 ports at the front then. I guess everything is at least tidy.

Since I'm stuck at home and my steps are way down, I decided to get back into doing pilates. Felt like taking a second stab at finding the playlist that my old pilates instructor used... I knew it was from the Chillout Sessions from Ministry of Sound. Seems it's a combo of numbers XIV and XVII with a few other songs thrown in. Still missing some songs which I don't know the name of but I have 25 tracks now which is more than enough.
