Will you use the coronavirus tracking app?
Just curious to see what people's thoughts are on this.

No.
Much like My Health Record I don't trust the federal government to securely store whatever data they collect, I don't trust them to collect only the data needed and I don't trust that they won't scope creep and use the data for other purposes.

No. Partly due to not trusting the Government to use the data they collect in a responsible fashion, but also because that data will be vulnerable to hackers. It's fairly unlikely to collect any data I particularly care about sharing, but I don't trust the Government's definition of essential data, nor their ability to keep the app itself from being compromised.
I'm also doing what I need to to avoid being in a position where I might be infected anyway.
I get that they need fairly wide take up to get accurate results but between the security concerns and me already taking precautions, I don't see why I should do it. If they try and make it mandatory I'll probably just switch my phone off. See what happens.

This government has a history of massive scope creep when it comes to private data, so no.

They're storing the data in the Amazon cloud. Which means US law enforcement will be able to access it with a warrant. So their promises about nobody else having access are a lie from the start.

To be fair, if it's held in an Australian data centre US Law Enforcement might have to fight a bit harder to get access. I believe there was a similar case a while ago with some Microsoft data held in Ireland.

Yes, I doubt they'd have an easy time of it, if they could even come up with a compelling reason to go snooping. But if the contract had been given to an Australian company... :-/
